I'm entirely too brain dead to write anything besides this sentence (and maybe a few incomplete sentences following this). Here, have some pictures:
... what has been occupying the professional-side of my mind for the last week and a half. No, not The Shocker, but GTA, dork.
... the homies! AKA "I'm still tight with folks from high school." Also, I need a hair cut.
... this caught my eye while grocery shopping.
... this caught my eye (and almost blinded me) while at another denim warehouse sale today. What the hell, Ed Hardy?!
... Neeeeeeeeeeew kicks! I'm on a mission to have all of my sneakers have patterns on them.
Happy birthday, Judy! WOOOO!
Besides rocking out with my (imaginary) cock out during the JRock Revolution Saturday show, other highlights of the weekend included:
Finally meeting Neff! I've internet-known this guy for years because of a shared deep-seeded love for Psycho le Cému and a common appreciation for ghetto fabulous Hip Hop. There's not many of us out there that can do the silly hand routines to Visual Kei songs and then turn around to recite the lyrics to Mims' "This Is Why I'm Hot." (Which is basically what we did during the acts we weren't interested in Saturday night at the show.) I love this guy! I hope I get to hang out with him again soon.
Eating! And bonus, eating with friends! Two buffets, Japanese curry, room service, Disneyland greasy park food madness, ice cream and oh my god I think my waistline just increased by 2" just thinking about all of it.
Disneyland! I hadn't been there since 1998, so it felt like I was a little kid again. I forgot how much fun it was to go on roller coasters, dodge little kids running underfoot and shoot imaginary lasers at the Evil Emperor Zurg. I really suck at that ride, by the way, but I partially blame my car partner for turning the damn car around so I wasn't facing any of the targets! Hater. Oh, and if you haven't noticed, whenever you're with me and I have a camera be prepared to take stupid photos. And Disneyland is great for stupid photos.
Did I mention that I make people take stupid pictures? There's Garrett, he's a good sport. He's also the buster that kept turning the car around during the Buzz Lightyear ride. I figure this is my payback.
There were some great "What the...?!" moments over the weekend. We found an Anap clothing store in a Japanese shopping center where we had curry and were ridiculously amused by their Anap Latina line. Oh, those silly Japanese girls and their silly fashion. Then there was the security guard at the bar we were at on Friday night who kicked out a Black girl while yelling, "You make all Black people look bad!" Wow, man, just wow. And I'm not even going to get into the amount of "interesting" fashion choices that were seen during the show.
More Disneyland photos here!
Show us a picture of someone that can always makes you laugh.
I found this picture while digging through folders on my desktop. Taken back in 1999, me and these two guys were wandering around Seybold (a big ol' technology/design convention in San Francisco) trying to find as much free stuff as possible. One of the booths was showing off their new digital photography set-up and was offering photos of the attendees.
Now, this was hot shit back then since digital cameras were pretty much out of the price range of the average Joe. Whereas all the other folks at the event were taking standard passport-style photos, Dre and Carlo decided that we had to take it upon ourselves to switch it up a bit. I remember drawing a small crowd when we were posing for this and hearing a comment from one of the booth staffers that "the guy with the pager on his hat is great."
Since then, Carlo (with the pager) and Dre have become two of the funniest guys I had the priviledge of meeting when I started art school. Something about the way their minds are wired makes them come up with the funniest stuff without even trying. I haven't seen Carlo in years, but whenever I run into Dre I can guarantee at least one good belly laugh.
