That I am, in fact, the sexiest motherfucker ever.
I fully expect even more emotionally heart-wrenching photography while the girls and I are backstage exercising our neck muscles from our god-forsaken huge wigs/head pieces during Comic-Con in a few weeks. Believe it, sucka!
In other news, I participated in a Vox discussion group earlier today and got paid to talk about stuff I talk about normally. All jobs should be that easy. Also, I have an interview tomorrow morning. Oh boy!
Thanks for the (ridiculously unflattering (of me), but oh so funny) photo, Zig!
L-R:
1) This couple had on an awesome set of sentai (Kamen Rider? Oh, who am I kidding, they all look like Power Rangers to me.) costumes.
2) Mario Brothers!
3) Midna from Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess. She did an awesome job on the headpiece.
4) Ninjas from The Village Hidden Among The Cherry Blossoms. Which was really just an excuse for Marc, Jon Jon and his two sons plus their friend Jodel to wear pink polo shirts and carry swords.
5) Sharaku from the Japanese indie band FLOPPY. She said I was the first person to recognize her, poor thing (although it doesn't surprise me), and that someone had previously gone up to her and said, "You know, outside of your outfit, your hair and make-up could totally make you Sharaku from Metronome." D'oh! (They're the same Sharaku, friends.)
More AX photos here.
I must have been in the AX void where no one gets to see most of the people they were hoping to run into. To those I did get to see and hang out with (even for a hot second)... yay! To the others that were obviously traveling in another dimension compared to mine, I hope you guys had fun and hopefully I really will run into you at the next event.
A bunch of us debuted our Ibara costumes Saturday evening. After over a year of plans, delays, more plans and more delays we finally got all together. Here's some preview shots (thanks to Marc for the solo and a cobbled together group shot from two different ones at Fansview.) We got a short shoot in with Jason from i360 that I'm excited to see, but you'll just have to wait for more crotchless pant action (good lord) till then.
Finally got a soeur on Sunday when Ashe and I wore our Maria-sama ga Miteru costumes together! Let's discuss how I totally ate pavement while walking in the most comfortable costume I own, shall we? Actually, let's not. Big thanks to the Zigster for taking photos of us and for Ashe for just being awesome.
Also managed to get two non-cosplay buds to dress up with us. Since Jenn and I aren't sewing fanatics, the easiest thing for us to get that we could all match in was kigurumi! You already know how I love those things, right? Diana in the tiger suit is obviously a shoe-in for a cosplayer as she easily got into the spirit with posing for pictures. Leelyn (Pikachu) was so taken aback by the amount of craziness going on that we had to coax her to stop looking like a deer in headlights whenever someone asked to take a picture of us. hahahaha Thanks for the photos, Marc!
Other than the fact that I didn't see most of you guys, AX was pretty fun! I could've done without the blazing sun and weird layout of the convention center and, in hindsight, I should've stuck around till Monday to hang out more, but other than that no real complaints. Anna Tsuchiya was great and I loved her show, I ate a large portion of at least one cow Saturday at dinner and I almost went to a rave later that night... more on all that later, though.
First we got word that the cast from The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya (which, even if I haven't followed, I know is ridiculously huge because of the fan base it has) would be in attendance and performing, then there was SKIN (AKA holy crap Yoshiki, Gackt, Miyavi and Sugizo) and now I just read that Anna Tsuchiya (Ichiko in Kamikaze Girls, singer for NANA in the anime and generally just a saucy hapa) is performing too.
Not that I'm complaining, nope. But, AX obviously wants me to do nothing but stand in lines all weekend long to see concerts. I see how it is. I mean, anime at Anime Expo? What's all that noise?
SKIN's slated to perform Friday with Anna on Saturday and good lord this is crazy what the hell am I going to do with myself and I hope I can watch at least one of these shows without having to jostle with 15-year-olds.
